CAF Professional Development / Professional Military Education Keystone Documents Summaries (1947-2020) (DWAN Only)Over several decades many studies have been commissioned and reports written on and about CAF Professional Development (PD) and Professional Military Education (PME). Significant though several of these reports and studies are, their sheer length can be discouraging. With this unintended effect in mind, the team in the Directorate of Professional Development at the Canadian Defence Academy (CDA) has seen fit to develop a high quality Coles Notes version of these extant reports and studies. From our perspective, these reports and studies not only constitute foundational materials for understanding the journey undertaken thus far in the evolution of PD/PME within the CAF but are also a must read especially for those in the CDA formation.
About the individual summaries, the cover sheet provides the aim, the reason for the study, the questions/issues to be addressed and its relation to other studies in the compendium. A link to electronic copies of the study reports located on the Defence Information Network is included with each summary. All reports are referred to by their original titles; however, for continuity the term Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is used in the main body of each summary.
In addition, each summary includes a short introduction, a brief description of the conduct of the study, the key findings and analysis followed by the main conclusions and recommendations. Finally, the key take away points from each report are provided at the end of the summary.
NOTE: Links from the Document to the various reports sometimes do not work properly with Microsoft Edge so if a problem, try using Chrome or another browser.
